UEFA Champions League Draw

The UEFA Champions League draw happened earlier today and there are some intriguing matchups.

VfB Stuttgart v Barcelona
Olympiakos v Bordeaux
Internazionale v Chelsea
Bayern Munich v Fiorentina
CSKA Moscow v Sevilla FC
Lyon v Real Madrid
FC Porto v Arsenal
AC Milan v Manchester United

The Chelsea vs Inter match catches my eye because it has The Special1 returning to face his former club, but for me the biggest matchup has to be Manchester United vs AC Milan. David Beckham was hoping for the match up earlier in the week and I have to admit that I didn't think it would happen. I guess I shouldn't doubt Goldenballs. So now Patrice Evra gets to try and shut down the former Old Trafford legend as United look to make it three straight Champions League finals in a row. I can't wait for mid February!

European Champions

Nike dropped this video onto YouTube right after Barcelona were crowned European Champions. Makes me wonder what they had in the can for United.

A night for history. No matter who won today, tonight would be historic. They way it ended had Pep Guardiola becoming the sixth player in history to win the Champions League as both a player and coach. Barca also became the first Spanish team to accomplish the Treble winning their league, cup and Europe. Had ManU won, they would have become the first team to repeat as European Champions. It was definitely a special night 10 years after Manchester United won their first Treble.

This says it all.

Barcelona showed exactly why they have dominated every aspect of their Spanish Primera campaign. Goals from Samuel Eto'o (10) and Lionel Messi (70) broke Manchester United hearts as they stripped away any hopes of a back to back Champions League title. What do you think of the game? Was it absolute brilliance of Barcelona or was it a United side that failed to show up to the game? Was the absence of Fletcher felt? Was this Sir Alex's best 11? Questions I will be asking for a long time, as the performance by the Red Devils was the poorest I have seen in a long time. Any team that show's up for a final against Barcelona and play's the way Man U did will always get this result. Bravo, Barcelona... Back to the drawing board Manchester.
